Sven’s Lesson Plan
1.
Editing Foundation
For beginners and intermediates: Start by learning the basics, from installing the software (free DaVinci Resolve pro install), downloading and ingesting dailies, to selecting, making first edits, and working with audio.
2.
Advanced Editing & Storytelling
After students submit their first rough cut, we explore the nuances of narrative editing: subtext, dramatic questions, connecting scenes in a narrative arc, and audience engagement are at the forefront.
3.
Personal Branding & Career Strategies
There is more to a successful career in the film industry than talent. Learn strategies for finding your first client, obtaining meetings, and securing jobs. We take you through a mock-interview and guide you on a career master plan.
4.
Scene Work Evaluations
For students to receive evaluations from us for their scene work, they are asked to give feedback to at least three other students. Our instructors are working editors and give detailed editing notes.
5.
Editing Bootcamp
Any student who has cut at least two scenes from the course is eligible to apply for bootcamp. Real directors with edit-ready films provide a test scene cut for the chance to get hired. So far, every director has hired one or more of our students for their film.
6.
Office Hours
We offer bi-weekly live streams with the students to guide them directly with their pain points.
